After sitting empty for several years, the goal was to reestablish the property as 24,000 square feet of highly desirable creative workspace where a young company could develop, grow and prosper. The design team utilized four approaches toward that end: The existing empty and hard exterior site environment was softened into a lush verdant zone with communal spaces for people to meet, interact and engage with the neighborhood; A dramatic glass entry canopy and strong contemporary language was developed to project an image that is current, modern and memorable; Transparency into and out of the building was optimized by opening up blank solid walls and fitted with energy efficient clear glazing; Finally, user amenities and service functions that people actual value and use such as bicycle parking, increased plumbing fixture counts and showers were added.
