703 Market Renovation
Client
CIM Group
Location
San Francisco, CA
When constructed in 1897, 703 Market was the tallest and most celebrated building west of the Mississippi. However that status was brief as the former “Call Building” having survived the 1906 earthquake could not avoid being gutted by the subsequent fire. It was then further degraded by a 1930’s art deco transformation and addition followed by an even more insensitive 1980’s post-modern remodel of its three story base. On a value driven budget, TMT’s charge is to reestablish its Market Street stature, incorporate modern amenities and services as well as modernize and upgrade each of the leaseable tenant floors.
The exterior of the building is currently undergoing a façade restoration and installation of a new stone portal at its monumental entrance. In the building interior, the ground floor lobby has been renovated with found historic 1930’s decorative elements exposed and renovated and the twenty floors of tenant space have been upgraded with new restrooms, glazed conferencing areas, building systems and amenities to “Market Ready” condition.
